9/29 Sheboygan South 40 - Lincoln 54 - Homecoming

Was that the last home game for these fine young gentlemen?

Now THAT was a fun game!  I think everyone was a little jittery at the sight of Sheboygan South matching us TD for TD in the game's first 15 minutes.  But Hollywood and Co. never let us down, constantly driving down the field and punching it in.  Muscles ran for 158 yards and 2 TDs on Just 12 carries.  Hollywood passed for almost 300 yards and added another 43 on the ground.  He also accounted for 3 total TDs.  The defense got a score and also forced 4 turnovers.  And while big plays were once again the story for the Ships' defense, they got the stops when they needed to.  The fans certainly got their money's worth.  The perfect Fall day helped everyone enjoy a great game that lasted 3 hours and 10 minutes!  As always, enjoy the pictures below the jump.

We had Two and a Half (and a half) captains for this one.

The game ball was brought to Municipal by the cross country team.  They brought it from Sheboygan.  Running with it.

After all the fun from the week, the Ships were ready to kick some ass.

The Seniors were introduced before the game.  It was Senior "Night", as the Ships have no additional remaining home games left on the schedule.

The offense was hot from the get-go.  Here, Hollywood connects with Young Fisch on the second play of the game.

On the third play of the game, they smartly pitched it to Muscles.  Guess what he did?

Yup.  He took it 56 yards for the game's first touchdown!

Still the best-looking coaching staff in the conference, as voted by the Lincoln coaching staff.

Defensively, there were some very odd things going on.  Lot's of 3rd and longs, but lot's of conversions.  Oh, and eye-gauging.  There was that, too.

Hard to say anyone had a good game on defense if you surrender 40 points, but the closest anyone came to it was Big Al, who once again led the team in tackles.

The Ships' 2nd TD was scored on a long pass to the Soph, who was so wide-open he signaled a fair catch before sprinting to the end zone.

Big hit by the Professor.

Big Al was always around the ball.

Swing pass to Muscles?  Another great idea!

It isn't often that you see a ref clicking his heals after a great play.

I think we found Jonah's "prodigy" for next year.

Can't do a post without mentioning J-Life.  Again, he was perfect on PATs and FGs.  But I was completely impressed with his touchback this game.  The ball fell off the tee and J-Life kicked it right before it hit the ground.  Touchback.  Unbelievable.

When he gets going fully speed, no one is going to tackle him.

They don't like getting hit by Big Al...

But Big Al still has something to learn...

WRAP UP!  He almost broke that tackle.

You know what happens when you try and run at our quarterback?

That's what.

J-Life's second FG before halftime...

... Was good!  Apparently, this was the only time during Coach Dixon's tenure that the Ships made 2 FG's in a game.  Wow.

At halftime, they announced Homecoming Court.  And Pops died a little more.

Eden won for "highest socks."

"Escorting Seidl?  Score"  - actual quote.

Maybe one of these younin's is a future half-man?

Yeah, you ran all morning.  But halftime was so long, you had time to change.

The Pommers got their time, too.

They even showed off their athleticism...

... And how good they are at looking to the right.

Back to football.  And, wouldn't you know it?  It's Muscles, breaking away for another TD.

Every year, South gets us to jump offsides at least once.  This year, it happened on 4th and inches.  2 spurs, a defensive end, nose tackle, AND a linebacker jumped.

The tastefully-named Eric Berg had an excellent second half.   This is his second TFL in about 5 plays.

And maybe, just maybe, he wanted his coaches to see he was doing a good job.

Uh, guys?

You too, Lodes?

Now, you know they're small when Young Fisch looks like Austin.

Muscles likes the Soph's second TD on the day.  How about the Pommers?

Yup.  I think they approve.

Swarming to the ball.  What do we think of that?

Meh.  She doesn't look impressed.

How about Lodes almost blocking a punt?

OK.  Back on track.

Let's try one more - how about Young Fisch catching a pass and Jaggering it?

Alright.  This is just getting weird.

After a fantastic strip by Big Al, Chris scooped and "raced" down the sideline.

35 yards later, I'm not sure which one was more gassed.

We have to make sure we give props to One-Third, who, again, completely took our opponent's best receiver out of the game.

The coup de grâce was handled by Big Al, of course, who intercepted a pass...

...raced down the sideline...

... and SCORED!  (note to fans: if someone is shooting the game behind you, please do not stand up during a play.  Alex should have a better picture of what will likely be his only varsity touchdown.  Thanks.)

Like any Professor, he always wants to do everything.

The walk.

I'd thank you, seniors.  But we still have a long way to go.
